Day 1/Hour 1 review: So far so good! I ordered the Aplo back in January and 6 months later I had the hurdy at the door. I was able to hold it after a lot of tape and styrofoam. After about 20-30 minutes of tuning and adjusting, it started to sound wonderful. A small face button came off during shipping but it press-fit back on, so no real damage during shipping. I will hopefully come back after a few months to give a better review than "it looks good and I need to tune it more".

I'm more than happy with my Aplo, has been very good instrument since I got it like 2 months or so ago and despite I had some issues with the shipping company at the end arrived safely to my door. I was worried about the long trip from Poland to Colombia but it was well packed and arrived with no harm. The sound is very good and is very suitable instrument for beginners like me. I will recommend the Aplo to anyone that wants to start playing the HG and can't find a local luthier.

6 Months review: Here we are; 6 months later, and still working well! The strings are good and it sounds great! I am still learning but can play some basic songs and even then it is wonderful. Great beginner hurdy-gurdy and a good sound for those wanting to go further.

Great value for money package. Solid sound, solid construction and an eye pleasing design. I can only wish I have made my purchase decision earlier. I decided to collect my gurdy in person so I had a chance to meet Michalina and Piotr in person and to see their workshop. Great experience and great people :) Best regards from the far North!

I've had my Aplo for a good while and I love it so so much. It plays like a dream and it looks gorgeous! I've been taking classes with it and it has such a nice full sound and clear crisp chien. I would definitely recommend this for beginning players, it'll carry you far into learning and be a companion for many years to come!

Just got the Alpo last week. My brother and I have been discussing buying a hurdy gurdy one day for about 10 years. We have done quite a bit of research and have decided to go with the alp. We are amazed by the craftsmanship of this instrument. A lot of attention to detail and this thing sounds amazing! We are both guitar players so we were able to noodle around but we have a lot to learn. This has been a lot of fun thus far and excited to learn on such an amazing piece of art! Thank you again! Cheers!

As a beginner, I wanted a good quality, no-frills, instrument that would be able to accompany me on my journey for at least the first couple of years. Luckily I found the GurdyWorld website, which narrowed down the selection a bit. I decided for the Aplo, as it seemed to have good quality, great looks and also short shipping time (3 months). Given that I had no clue about hurdy gurdies I was a bit nervous with spending that amount of money on a blackbox - but you need to start somewhere. I had arranged to pick the Aplo up at the shop, as I was in Krakow around that time. Michalina was an absolute delight and gave me a quick intro to the instrument and maintenance, which proved very valuable. Only at home I noticed that they forgot to build in the pickup, as ordered. But that could be settled fast, friendly and fair. I wanted to wait with writing a review until I played a bit and could better judge the quality of the instrument. I am fortunate to be able to take lessons with a professional teacher. After playing the Aplo for about six months now and making good progress (according to my teacher) I can say that I really love the instrument and am very happy that I bought it. It looks gorgeous, sounds great and holds up really well (I bike to my lessons every other week and also took it on a one week road trip in the trunk of a car). Also my teacher said it's a good instrument that will keep me happy for the next couple of years. I can fully recommend the Aplo. Thanks Michalina and the whole MM Instruments team. :)
